Lt. Col. Jimmie Carl Turner (US Army Retired), 76, died Thursday at his residence with his loving family by his side.
He was a formerly a resident of Goldsboro, where he was a active member of First Baptist Church and Goldsboro # 634 A.F. & A. M. While in Goldsboro, he was an Embalmer and Funeral Director and a graduate of Cincinnati College of Embalming.
After being stationed in Fayetteville, he moved his membership to Lafayette Baptist Church where he was very active and taught Sunday school.
He was a Vietnam Veteran and faithfully served his country in the US Army as well as the US Air Force. Jimmie retired with almost 30 years of services receiving numerous medals and commendations. His last position was as a Physician Recruiter with the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville.
He is survived by his wife, Connie McRoy Turner and a son, Chris Turner, of Raleigh.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. (February 2, 2019) at Lafayette Baptist Church, 501 Hope Mills Road, Fayetteville, Pastor Ron Hinson and Chaplain Archie Barringer will officiate.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Masonic Home for Children, 600 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565 or the American Cancer Society, 8300 Health Park, Suite 10, Raleigh, NC 27615.
