Pluma Stancil Sullivan Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Pluma Stancil Sullivan, 90, passed peacefully on Saturday at Avante in Wilson, NC The funeral was held Monday at 5:00 PM at Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church, 752 Stoney Creek Church Road, Goldsboro, NC the Revs. Gary Bailey, Barry Williams and Dr. De Wayne Eakes officiating. She was laid to rest in Church Cemetery “Miss Pluma” or “Granny,” as she was affectionately called was born in Johnston County the daughter of Alvin R. and Esther Peedin Stancil. She was married to Clement B. Sullivan who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her siblings Vernard A. Stancil and Beulah Stancil Mercer. She leaves her daughter Carolyn S. Eakes and husband De Wayne Eakes, a grandson, Kevin Wayne Eakes, brothers Glenn Stancil and Donnell Stancil and wife Lou and a sister, Virginia Stancil Fulghum . Miss Pluma was active in the Center Ridge Presbyterian Church until she moved her membership to Stoney Creek Church. She taught Sunday School for over 45 years and served as president of the Women’s Auxiliary. For more than l0 years, she volunteered at Cragmont Assembly. She worked as a professional dietitian for the Wayne County Schools at Pikeville and Norwayne School. She was an active participant in the School Food Service Association, serving as local president, district director, and on the State Executive Board and the State Nominating Committee. She was a weekly volunteer for the American Red Cross.
