Edna Myrick Small Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mrs. Small is survived by her sons: Dr. James W. Small, Jr. (Carolyn) of Maitland, FL and Dr. Gary W. Small (Michelle) of Iowa City, IA. A grandson: Brian W. Small (Dana) of Dallas, TX, granddaughters: Alexa McQuistan Small, Audrey McQuistan Small, great-grandsons: Tanner James Small and Peyton Louis Small, her brothers: Maynard Myrick of Macon, NC, Fredrick F. Myrick of Roanoke Rapids, NC and a sister; Eula M. Smith of Louisburg, NC. She was a native of Warren County, NC. She was born to the late Della Olympia Wray Myrick and James Walter Myrick. She was married to the late James W. “Jim” Small. She has also been preceded in death by her siblings: Walter J. Myrick, Perry L. Myrick, Gratia Myrick Topping and Violet Myrick Mitchell. Mrs. Small was a registered nurse who worked for Bell Helicopter while residing in Texas. As her husband was transferred to military bases throughout his career in the US Air Force, she worked as a nurse at hospitals across the country. During her retirement, she continued to dedicate her life to assisting others by providing transport to elders in the community to their various appointments while also giving them much needed companionship. She also took it upon herself to aid the homebound with their day to day errands by going to the supermarket and pharmacy for them when they were unable. She was an active and longtime member of the Discover ABC Sunday School Class.
