Otis Rand Mitchell, 90, of the Pinkney Community, went to be with the Lord Tuesday at Wayne UNC Health Care.
Funeral will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Union Grove Free Will Baptist Church, 1283 Union Grove Church Road, Fremont, where he was a member for more than 80 years. A private committal service will follow at Mitchell Cemetery.
There will be a time of visiting with the family in the old fellowship hall following the service.
Surviving: wife: Madeline Caraway Mitchell, daughter: Sandra West (Mike), grandchildren: Michael West, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth West, sister: Betty Strickland, brother: James Mitchell (Shelby Jean) and best friend/dog: Jake.
A native of Wayne County, he was preceded in death by his parents, Minnie Doris Snipes Mitchell and Ellie Forest Mitchell, and brother, Eutice Mitchell.
He is best remembered for his many years of service to the community at Pinkney General Store.
