Olga Rose Wooten Davis, 86, 553 Church of God Road, died Friday at Wayne UNC Medical Care.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 22 at 11:00 AM at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, 610 Mt. Carmel Church Road, Pikeville. Committal will follow at Pikeville Cemetery. The Reverends Elizabeth Hounshell, David Grissom and David Beck will officiate.
The family will receive friends at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM Tuesday prior to the funeral and other times at the residence of Keith and Lynda Stewart, 207 Pender Street, Fremont.
Surviving are her son James B. Davis of Wilson, a special friend Donna Cox of Fremont; a daughter Lynda Davis Stewart (Keith) of Fremont; grandchildren, Leslie S. Stewart (Nicole) of Raleigh, Jay L. Stewart (Bethany) of Goldsboro, and Paige S. Harper (Joseph) of Wilson; great-grand children, Evan Stewart, Liza Rose Stewart, Lilli Keith Harper, Rosemary Harper to be born; sister-in-law, Jean Pittman Wooten of Pikeville and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Durwood Davis, parents, Enness Hicks Wooten and Wesley R. Wooten, siblings Rev. Charles Wooten, W. A. “Punk” Wooten, Elton R. Wooten and a grandson, Will Stewart.
Mrs. Davis was a native of the Pikeville community. She was a life long member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church where she played the piano and sang in and directed the choir, as long as her health permitted. She served on numerous boards and committees of the church and taught Sunday School for a long period of time. She was retired from the banking industry.
