Julia Butler Capps, 76, passed away peacefully at home on December 22, 2016.
Mrs. Capps was born in Whiteville, NC to the late David Lennon Butler, Sr. and Annie Miller Butler (Nickleson). After graduating from Whiteville High School, she moved to Raleigh and worked at First Citizens Bank where she met her future husband, Tony at North Carolina State University. After getting married, they moved to Smithfield where she worked a number of years at Shallcross and retired from the Department of Mental Health.
Mrs. Capps was proceeded in death by her husband Tony Capps, brother David Lennon Butler, Jr., and sister Linda Butler Edwards.
She is survived by two adored sons: Sam Capps and wife Jen of Cleveland, OH, Michael Capps and wife Michelle of Smithfield. Grandchildren; Reagan Capps, Amya Capps, Luke Capps, Sammy Capps, Mackenzie Weinhagen, Hailey Boyette, Jaydan Boyette. Also, her beloved classmates (1959) of Whiteville High School - whose members remain close and continue to meet for lunch in Whiteville (every 3 months).
A visitation will be Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church, 215 S. Third Street, Smithfield, NC 27577 starting at 10:00 with a Memorial Service Celebration will immediately follow at 11:00.
