Henry Dwight Butts, 75, of Salem Church Road, died Thursday at Wilson Rehabilitation & Nursing Center.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 11am at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Hwy 70 West. There will be a time of sharing with the family from 10am to 11am at Evergreen Funeral Home before the service.
Surviving are his wife, Etheleen Stephenson Butts, sons, Henry Dwight “Hank” Butts, Jr. (Debbie) and Joseph Chong “Joe” Butts (Melissa) both of Wilson, and daughter, Janet Lee Butts Allen (John) of Wilmington; sister, Carolyn Davis of Newport, NC; step-daughters, Gilda Hope James Monterone, Eleanor Dianne James Pierce, Wanda Kay James Bragg (Ronnie) and Celia Gayle James Gwaltney (Wayne) all of Goldsboro; step-sons, William Craig James of Goldsboro, Jesse Berry James, Jr. of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Logan Butts, Madison Butts, Joseph Chong Butts, Jr., Cohen Butts, and John David Allen, Jr.; step-grandchildren Darle Ray Moore (Tiona), Wendy Herring (David), John Monterone (MJ), Ronald Alan Pierce (Cheryl), Josh March, Jesse March, Miranda Powell, Jarvis Gwaltney, Morgan Gwaltney (Sara), Samuel Gwaltney, Krisha James, April Hughes (Kevin), Scott James (Mandy), Jeffery James (Amber), Daniel Helfer, Matthew Helfer, and Jonathan Helfer; 17 great-grandchildren; and special nephew, Earlton Lucas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mamie Lee Ford Butts and William Henry Butts. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and Wilson Masonic Lodge 712 A.F. & A. M. He proudly served as a Sergeant in Korea for the US Army .
