Ethel Cowan

Pikeville – Ethel Phillips Cowan, 85, died Saturday at UNC Hospital at Chapel Hill.


Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1:00 PM Fellowship Baptist Church, 332 Arrington Bridge Road, Goldsboro.  Their will be a time of visiting and sharing with the family from 12 o’clock to 12:45 PM in the fellowship hall.   Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park, 2925 Hwy 117 S., Dudley.  Pastor Stanley Kelly and Rev. John Shore will officiate.


Surviving is her son, James Cowan (Michelle) of Phoenix Arizona.  Grandchildren, James “J. B.” Bryon Cowan (Morgan), Matthew Allenn Cowan, Alexandria Rayne Cowan, Jakkey Flowers and Colton Cowan. Brother, Keith Phillips of Pine Level, Great grandchild, Willow Cowan.


Mrs. Cowan was a native of Johnston County and she was preceded in death by her husband James E. Cowan, Jr., her parents, Margaret Estella Garner Phillips and Hillard Washington Phillips, grandson, Andrew Hyett, brothers, C. B. Phillips, Bobby G. Phillips, Jasper Delbert Phillips, Howard Kenneth Phillips, sister, Ruth Alene Pittman and Mary Estelle Mitchell.   She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and was active in the Ladies Fellowship Group.


The family requests that memorials be made in her honor to Fellowship Baptist Church, 332 Arrington Bridge Road, Goldsboro, NC 27530
