Jonathan M. Lane

Jonathan M. LaneJonathan is a native of the Faro community of Wayne County. After graduating from High school in Cary, NC he attended Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, NC where he began his career in Funeral Service before returning to Wayne County to continue helping the community. Jonathan then attended Wayne Community College before graduating from Fayetteville Technical Community College with a degree in Embalming and Funeral Service. Jonathan is known for his expertise in the art of embalming. He is a member of the Mount Carmel United Methodist Church in Pikeville where he is a choir member and serves on a number of committees. Currently he is also head of the missions department of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church. He is also a member of Harmony Lodge # 340. He currently lives in the Saulston community of Wayne County.

 

Elizabeth A. Futrell

Elizabeth FutrellElizabeth is a native of the Patetown community of Wayne County. She graduated from Wayne Country Day in 1995, then graduated cum laude in 1999 form the University of North Carolina-Wilmington with a BA in English. Elizabeth took a break and traveled through Europe in the summer of 2000 and afterward moved to Raleigh, working in the banking for several years before leaving to pursue a teacher’s licensure in English at NC State University, then attending Duke for a second licensure. She taught ESL in Wake County before leaving for Vermont for the summer to work on her MA in Teaching which she completed with the approval of her thesis in June of 2008. While working on her graduate degree, she simultaneously taught ESL in Durham County. Lastly, she has been involved in the funeral business through her research and publications in the American Cemetery and American Funeral Director magazines.


Elliott R. Futrell

Elliott R. FutrellElliott is a native of the Eureka and Stoney Creek communities of Wayne County. He is a graduate of Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in Cincinnati, Ohio with a degree in Embalming and Funeral Service. Since 1959, he has worked in the funeral business. Elliott is known in this industry for his expertise with funerals and the art of embalming. In 1989 and 1998 he was the president of North Carolina State Board of Mortuary Science in Raleigh. He is also a member of Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church where he has served on the Board of Trustees. Elliott is a member of the Ambassador Sunday School where he has serves in his interests through Mission and Charity. He is past master of Harmony Lodge # 340 and served as secretary for a number of years as well as a member of Sudan Temple in New Bern and the Wayne County Shire Club. In addition, he has served three terms as treasurer of the Goldsboro Volunteer Rescue Squad as well as the Board of Adjustments for the City of Goldsboro. Elliott has been a past president of the Rotary Club of Fremont, where he received the Rotarian of the Year Award. He is a past distinguished president and past distinguished secretary of the Sunrise Goldsboro Kiwanis Clubs and in 2002 he received the Legion of Honor Award. While his daughter Elizabeth attended Wayne Country Day School, Elliott served eight years on the board of directors. Elliott is a past president of the North Carolina Genealogy Society where he has written a number of genealogical articles and is currently working on the third volume of Wayne County Cemeteries for the local society in Goldsboro
