RALEIGH - Eugene Hoye Blanton died Tuesday at the Brian Center of Goldsboro.
Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Saturday at Westwood United Methodist Church, 130 Short Street, Goldsboro. Committal will follow in the Blanton Family Cemetery in Magnolia, NC. The Rev. Rufus Butner, III will officiate. There will be a time of visiting and sharing with the family following the service.
Surviving is a son, John "Randy" Randolph Blanton of Charleston, SC and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was a native of Magnolia in Duplin County and preceded in death by his wife; Donna Jean Harvill and his parents, Cornelius Robinson Blanton and Thomas Bryon Blanton. Mr. Blanton was an automobile mechanic for many years, and then joined the staff of First Baptist School in Charleston, SC where he served as a bus mechanic until his retirement. Mr. Blanton enjoyed being a member of the Charleston Rockhound Club as well as serving for the Civil Air Patrol at Charleston Air Force Base. He was known as an avid fisherman. Mr. Balnton and his family were members of the Carolina Bay Baptist Church in Charleston, SC.
